Marriage Equality is my “line in the sand” social policy issue for this upcoming election cycle. I don’t care if you cycle down Main Street upside down shooting gold coins out of your ass to balance the budget - if you don’t support equal marriage rights for all people, you aren’t getting my vote.

Well it’s about goddamned time this was important enough to do something about. (And fuck the states’ rights position.)

The Republican’s position has all the moral courage of defending slavery… state-by-state, of course.

I don’t think this could pass the House, but it would be a good to get it ready to go if the Democrats take the House back in the next 2-4 years.

“It is time to right this wrong,” Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.)

Anyone want to guess what the GOP fundie faux feminist power players will say?

As if it’s even necessary to guess. “This is an attack on family values!” blah blah blah “This destroys the sanctity of marriage!” blah blah “God will send tornadoes now!” blah blah “This isn’t what our founding fathers died for!” blah blah.

That’s right, you ignorant pukes. Just turn up the volume and keep chasing your tails. Eventually you might get dizzy and stop long enough to throw up.

It has absolutely no chance of passing in the House and an infinitesimal chance of getting through the Senate. The repeal of DADT barely made it through and that was with the Democrats in control of the House, with a much larger Senate majority, and with wide-spread support of the move from the military and people across the political spectrum. Repealing DOMA? Not so much.

True, but if you start the push now, you might get it passed sometime between when we have 15 states that allow same sex marriage and 20.
